Origin — My Starting Point

Hello, I am Naoko Yoshimura, Director of Shinhonmachi Clinic. Thank you for visiting this page.

As a child, I repeatedly suffered from bronchial asthma and pneumonia, spending much of my early years in and out of hospital — always dependent on medical care. Throughout those days of inhalers and antibiotics, even as a young child I found myself wondering: "Why, even with the same treatment, don't things ever seem to get truly better at their root?"

It was during that time that I encountered Eastern medicine — Kampo and acupuncture. When I first came across the concept of "not just treating symptoms, but restoring balance to the whole body," I had the experience of gradually improving through a completely different approach from what I had known before. Feeling the distinct power of both Western and Eastern medicine firsthand became a major turning point that led me to pursue a career as a physician.

"There are patients who cannot be helped by a single approach.
That is precisely why medicine needs to examine the body from a broader perspective."

These words remain at the core of my practice to this day. With the belief that "it is not the physician but the patient's own body that chooses the treatment," I strive to always remain flexible and sincere in my approach.

Philosophy — My Approach to Medicine

After becoming a doctor, I first set myself the goal of "never missing a diagnosis," and dedicated myself to training in diagnostic imaging. No matter how excellent a treatment may be, it is meaningless without an accurate diagnosis. I continue to firmly believe that establishing a safe and reliable foundation for care is my primary responsibility to each patient.

Building on that foundation, I now combine diverse approaches — Kampo, nutritional therapy, IV therapy, and acupuncture — to provide care tailored to each patient's individual condition. To carefully unravel "why this discomfort is happening right now," I make it a point to look at the whole of a patient's life: their constitution, diet, sleep, hormonal balance, and stress levels.

For example, symptoms such as chronic fatigue, cold limbs, or low mood often do not show up clearly in test results. It is precisely these "invisible ailments" that I want to listen to with care. I aspire to create a consultation room where patients leave feeling, "I finally feel heard."

Values — What I Hold Dear

What I have consistently held dear is "drawing out the body's innate capacity to heal." Rather than forcibly suppressing symptoms, I aim to guide the body toward natural recovery through the least burdensome means possible. The body is very honest. I believe that when you engage with it through the right approach, it will always respond.

Another priority in my practice is communicating test results and your physical condition in plain language, avoiding medical jargon as much as possible. When patients themselves understand "what state my body is in right now" and can proceed with treatment with genuine conviction — I believe that is the true shortcut to recovery. I see medicine not as something to "leave in the doctor's hands," but something that doctor and patient build together.

For those who have long struggled with symptoms of unknown cause, those who have not felt sufficient improvement from previous treatments, and those who have been too busy to prioritize their own health — I strive every day to make Shinhonmachi Clinic a place where you leave thinking, "I'm glad I came here."

🌸
I hope Shinhonmachi Clinic can be a place of comfort for you,
and a starting point for moving forward positively on your path to recovery.
