Ozone Therapy
Ozone Therapy (Major Autohemotherapy)
Self-pay treatment | Immune support, antioxidant effects, fatigue recovery, chronic conditions
Ozone therapy (Major Autohemotherapy / MAH) is a treatment in which a small amount of the patient's own blood is drawn, treated with a medical-grade ozone/oxygen gas mixture, and then returned to the body. Originating in Europe with over 100 years of history, it is widely practiced in countries including Germany and Italy, among others.

Blood treated with ozone becomes a brighter red and gains higher fluidity, triggering increased antioxidant production, activation of immune cells, and improved oxygen-carrying capacity. It also has very few side effects and is gentle on the body.
โš ๏ธ The treatment described on this page is self-pay (not covered by insurance). It is generally contraindicated for patients with G6PD deficiency, hyperthyroidism, bleeding tendencies, or pregnancy. Results vary from person to person.

Major Autohemotherapy (MAH) Procedure
Major Autohemotherapy โ€” How It Works

The treatment uses a dedicated sealed bottle and a medical ozone generator. Because a closed-circuit system is used throughout, in which the blood never contacts outside air, infection risk is extremely low and the procedure is safe. The session takes about 30-60 minutes.

1
Blood Draw
100-200mL of blood is drawn through an IV line into a dedicated bottle. An anticoagulant is added to prevent clotting.
2
Ozone Treatment
A medical ozone/oxygen gas mixture (concentration and amount adjusted to the purpose) is injected into the drawn blood, and the bottle is gently shaken to let the blood react with the ozone. The blood turns a vivid red color.
3
Reinfusion
The ozone-treated blood is slowly returned to the body via IV drip, taking about 15-30 minutes.
4
Completion & Going Home
No special rest is required after the treatment. Most patients can go home right away. Please avoid strenuous exercise on the day of treatment.

Main Effects of Ozone Therapy
Immune ยท Antioxidant ยท Circulation ยท Antiviral

Lipid peroxides (ozonides) and cytokines produced by the reaction between ozone and blood trigger various physiological responses throughout the body.

โœ“
Immune system activation: Activates NK cells, macrophages, and lymphocytes, boosting immune function from both the innate and adaptive sides.
โœ“
Strengthened antioxidant defense: Induces and enhances the body's own antioxidant systems, such as glutathione and superoxide dismutase (SOD).
โœ“
Improved blood circulation: Increases red blood cell deformability, promoting peripheral circulation and oxygen delivery to tissues. Also effective for coldness and peripheral circulation disorders.
โœ“
Antiviral & antibacterial action: Ozone's strong oxidizing power destroys the lipid membranes of viruses and bacteria. Its application to chronic viral infections (EBV, CMV, postherpetic neuralgia, etc.) is being researched.
โœ“
Fatigue recovery & whole-body revitalization: Enhances mitochondrial function to promote ATP production, improving chronic fatigue and energy shortfalls.
โœ“
Compatibility with cancer treatment: Because cancer cells have low tolerance to reactive oxygen species, combining ozone therapy with immune cell therapy or high-dose vitamin C drips is expected to produce synergistic effects.
Recommended For Chronic fatigue & malaise Lowered immunity Chronic viral infections Coldness & poor peripheral circulation Supportive cancer care Anti-aging Improving quality of life during chemotherapy Postherpetic neuralgia

Effects on Fibromyalgia: Clinical Research Data
Clinical Evidence โ€” Fibromyalgia & MAH

Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain, fatigue, sleep disturbance, and cognitive decline. Several clinical studies have examined the effectiveness of ozone Major Autohemotherapy (MAH) in patients who show poor response to conventional drug therapy.

๐Ÿ“‹ Published in PeerJ โ€” Retrospective Cohort Study (2025)

Tertemiz et al. enrolled 72 patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia (68 women, 4 men; mean age 54), administered MAH twice weekly for a total of 10 sessions, and evaluated changes before and after treatment using several standardized measures.

Protocol: Starting at 100ml (10mcg/ml) โ†’ concentration increased by 5mcg/ml each session โ†’ up to a maximum of 30mcg/ml, cumulative max 3,000mcg

โœ“
Pain reduction: The mean VAS score dropped from 7.8 to 4.8, a roughly 38% reduction, confirming a statistically significant improvement in pain.
โœ“
Recovery of daily function: A significant improvement in FIQ scores showed reduced interference with work, household tasks, and social activities.
โœ“
Improved sleep quality: Improvement in sleep disturbances associated with chronic pain was also confirmed, contributing to an overall improvement in quality of life.
โœ“
Mechanism of action: Thought to involve the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects of MAH, as well as modulation of pain perception through increased release of serotonin and endogenous opioids.

๐ŸŒฟ Consultation Process

On your first visit, we will check your current symptoms, medical history, and medications during the interview. After confirming that none of the contraindications apply, we will proceed with treatment. Treatment is by appointment only, so please call us to book first.

For patients wishing to continue treatment for supportive cancer care or chronic conditions, we can propose a customized treatment plan, including combinations with other self-pay treatments.

Please feel free to contact us first about chronic fatigue, lowered immunity, or supportive cancer care.
